Big and Little Sisters

  •

In Gamma Phi, a big sister is a mentor, a best friend, and support system.

She helps  her little get accustomed to the college and sorority experience.

All bonds between Gamma Phi sisters are special. However, one of the most exciting moments is when two sisters find an especially strong bond. This is the lifelong bond bewteen the Big and Little sister.

As a new member of Gamma Phi Beta, new members meet with older classmen to strengthen sisterhood and build connections. You may eventually meet that special s and realize you cannot live without. Through a process involving lunch dates, froyo runs, text messages, and awkward phone calls you end up as little then big sister. This is one of the most wonderful parts of being in a sorority.

When you meet your big sister, you are welcomed into a "family" of girls. You are able to establish a family full of love, labor, learning, and loyalty. Big sisters give advice, a helping hand, and support in tough times. Little sisters bring memories, lots of laughs, and love beyond compare. It is a bond that stays alive after college is over.

  • What I love about my

    G Phi Family:

"Not only do I have an amazing big,  I also have a wonderful twin! The three of us have dinner with our granbig, go Christmas shopping together, make cookies, watch movies on lonely weekends, go on late night fast food runs, and go to events together. I know that I can ask them for anything, and couldn't have asked for a better family. It is such a great feeling to find your missing pieces and realize you have met other people who are just like you that you can make lasting memories and friendships with. • Crescent Sisters

In our chapter, every new member is encouraged to get to know older girls to strengthen sisterhood and build connections. During their pledge period, girls are paired up with an older girl called their Crescent Sister. Crescent sisters are a unique part of our chapter. New members may find it overwhelming to meet the large amount of active members in their chapter. In Gamma Phi Beta, we want to make the new members feel involved and connected immediately. Each week, an active is given a new member to be a “crescent sister” to for the week. This crescent sister takes the new member out to lunch, out to grab froyo, meets them for coffee, or something else that gives them a chance to get to know eachother on a personal level. Also, the active member gives new member a small gift to welcome her to the chapter. We do this for ten weeks so by the end of the process, the new member feels close connections with many girls. Then through a mutual selection process, Big and Little sisters are chosen!
